Today, I am fine
My Blood Count Today: - Readings in square bracket [] are result from previous test.
Red Blood Count (HB) = 15.3[14.3] (Normal 13-18)
Platelet = 159[134] (Normal 150-450)
White Blood Count (WBC) = 7.5[8.0] (Normal 4 - 11)
I went to SJMC this morning for a post bone marrow transplant follow-up. The blood counts today were good and I was told that the liver anf kidney function test result were in good order as well. Normally it take about half a day for the follow up. It took about 1 to 2 hours to get the blood count results, 1 hour to get doctor's consultation and 1 hour to get my medicine
I asked the doctor about how could I improve my breathing capacity and reduce numbness. There is no short cut , the GVHD will eventually burnt out.
Since the GVHD is now under control, doctor cut down the steroid Prednisolone to 2 tablets per day instead of 24 tablets during my Chemo times. On the other hand, I have to continue taking Prograf . You see, this is how doctor manages a post-transplant patient: never over suppresses the immune system so that it misses the chance to clear up the bad cells, but at the same time, has to prevent the immune system be too strong to attack the host organs.With this incident, doctor predicted that I have to take anti-GVHD drug for a longer period of time, probably another 5 months.
I was diagnosed with Lymphoma March 2008. After 7 cycles of chemotherapies, the doctor suggested me to do a peripheral blood stem cell transplant (PBSCT) to increase the chances of a permanent cure. I use this blog to account for some of my experiences and my life after the transplant
