Day +643 : Cameron Highland Trip

Today, I am fine.

Last week Friday, We went to Cameron Highland to enjoy the cool air. This is first holiday trip with my kids after I fall ill in 2008. My last trip to Cameron is about 4 years ago. I like these places, cool and relax.

I am fine today. We have a Pot luck party last year June at Fong Ming 's House.

I am thinking of organising a same party this coming month, however there is some minor problem. Not due to less respond, but it is totally no respond. So......,

Me and Ah Siew went to US a month ago. We are invited to attend the company fuctio held at Baltimore, USA. It is an enjoy trip to US.

Day +622 : accuhaler

I am fine today,

I was given this spray type accuhaler to improve my breathing problem early in 2010 by a lung specialist. I just realise how important this drug help to improve my lung function. I check the You tube, the right way of using it. Put the mouth piece in mouth and suck in quickly and deeply. Hold the breath for 5 second. This spray type inhaler have less side effect compare to oral type drug. It help to open the airway, improve the breathing. It cost RM110 for 60 times usage.

• How to use the Accuhaler*
  Hold the outer casing of the accuhaler in one hand whilst pushing the thumb grip away until a click is heard
  Hold Accuhaler with mouthpiece towards you, slide lever away until it clicks. This makes the dose available for inhalation and moves the dose counter on
  Holding Accuhaler level, breathe out gently away from the device, put mouthpiece in mouth and suck in steadily and deeply
  Remove Accuhaler from mouth and hold breath for about 10 seconds
  To close, slide thumb grip back towards you as far as it will go until it clicks
  For a second dose repeat sections 1-5
  * The Accuhaler is also named Diskus in many countries
  

Why is this drug prescribed?
Seretide Accuhaler (Advair Diskus) is an oral inhaler that contains two types of asthma medication. One is fluticasone propionate, a steroid that reduces inflammation in the lungs. The other, salmeterol, is a long-acting bronchodilator that opens up the airways. Together, the two ingredients provide better control of asthma than either does individually.

Day +619 : Follow Up

I am fine today, I have the follow up at SJMC last week

My Blood Count on 12 Aug 2010: -
Readings in square bracket [] are result from previous test.
Red Blood Count (HB) = 14.6[15.3] (Normal 13-18)
Platelet = 142[159] (Normal 150-450)
White Blood Count (WBC) = 12.4[7.5] (Normal 4 - 11)

Nothing major, except the WBC is slightly higher, this was due to some infections. I have cough over the last two weeks. Doctor have prescribed antibiotic Avelox, 400mg tablet per day. It work well, the cough is tremendous reduced.

I complained about the breathless, doctor asked do I use the inhaler regularly, I said No. Only use when necessary. He said, no, no. I made a big mistake, the inhaler must be used daily, it will assits the reduce the inflammation in lung, hence improve my breathing. I have started used it daily, and the effect is good.
