I admitted to SJMC on last Sunday for high fever, 39.5C. Dr Alan said statistical show transplant patient used to get infections at 2 weeks interval. So , I am doing alright, as I only get once a month. I was discharged on Tuesday morning. This time the treatment is simple, Panadol 3 times a day + infusion of normal saline.
I am still recovering from the flu and cough. Hope the situation will improve in the next few days.
Chen Yoong 's father have stroke and currently still in Columbia Hospital. We pray for his father to get well soon.
I was diagnosed with Lymphoma March 2008. After 7 cycles of chemotherapies, the doctor suggested me to do a peripheral blood stem cell transplant (PBSCT) to increase the chances of a permanent cure. I use this blog to account for some of my experiences and my life after the transplant

Day +135 : Visit
I feel better today, recovery from flu, the coughing is still persist.
Last Thursday, my colleagues, Johnny Chiou (Regional GM), Eddie Neo ( AP HR manager) , Tee and Ronald Wong drop by to visit me. Like to thanks for their caring and blessing. Grace staff from Singapore, Shanghai, Malaysia and Hong Kong have donated some fund for my on going follow up. Would like to thanks them individually when back to work.
Yesterday, I asked Teck Ann to accompany me for the weekly follow up, instead of driving myself. The blood counts drop as expected due to GVHD and flu. Dr Alan is OK with the results.

Day +129 : Fong Ming's New House
I am well today. Fong Ming have moved in to his new house yesterday. Welcome !
His house is just behind my house. A corner lot double storey Terra house, with built up areas about 3,200+ sf. We have been a long time neighbour, started at Vista Komanwel , Sri Petaling in 1998. Fong Ming had been working at oversea for many years, I don't see him frequent during that time. We use to have a teh tarik at IMU when he back from oversea. Now, we have Chen Yoong, Teck Ann and Fong Ming stay around Bdr Puteri, enough kaki for a teh tarik gathering.

Day +128 : So far so good
I am well today. Now, I wake up even earlier, at 6am, to catch up the Chi Gong at Taman Wawasan. The event was organised by two auntie who had started since 1999. They start at 6:30am, with warm up exercise, follow by Tai Zi 24, Tai Zi 18 , 健身舞。We have the music accompany to these Chi Gong, the member able to follow the step more promptly. We will start learning the 太极伞子舞 next month.
I take part most of the activities, except the light dance, as the sun is getting out. Exposure to the sun can trigger chronic GVHD.

Day +127 : Follow Up
I am fine today. I have a follow up today, and this is the first time I drive myself to SJMC since my first Chemo March 08.
The blood count on 10 March 09:
Haemoglobin : 11 ( Nortmal 13 to 18)
Platelets : 131 ( Normal 150 - 400)
Total WBC : 4.8 ( Normal 4 to 11)
Overall the results is about the same compared to last week. This few days, I am doing more exercise, this may be the reason Haemoglobin raise. I have gain weight from 47kg to 48kg. I have asked Dr Alan Can I back to work by May, the answer is Yes. Alan said generally patient able resume work after 6 months.
I visited Hiap Soon's father at SJMC this afternoon. His father had recovered speedy from very minor stroke, discharged today. His doctor have asked a dietitian Ms Bee to explain how to lower down the cholesterol. It is very useful information. To control our cholesterol, eat more vege, more fruit, less meat, less egg, less sugar ( all cholesterol come from animal meat), Regular exercise and quite smoking.

Day +123 : Tax Relief
It is time to submit our personal income tax for 2008. There is some goodies for the tax payer in 2008, less taxing. The benefit include subsidies on interest loan totalling up to RM300k for housing, car & education, petrol allowances, childcare allowances.
One of the goodies is medical expenses, I received the info saying the medical expense relief is no limit ?
Need to consult a tax consultant on this.

Day +120 : GVHD
I am fine today. Today mark 4 months after my transplant.
Again, Teck Ann was my driver for yesterday follow up. The blood count is about the same with last week. Dr Alan decided to removed the PICC pipe, as this may the source of infections as well. Right now, my left hand is free from any devices. Free to move. My next follow up with be at clinic, instead of the Chemo Day Care Centre
However the red spot is getting more on my hand, this is a sign of GVHD ( Mild GVHD is good, it destroy the bad cells). Dr can't reduced the drug, I still need to continue the cyclosporin and prenisodone.

Day +118 : New Neighbour
Today, I started morning walk. Wake up at 6:30am, and have half an hour walking exercise. The energy level is better these few days. Compared to few weeks ago, I wake up quite late, 9am. Bcos I sleep after 12pm. I usual to take sleeping tablet, but I have stop taken it since Jan 09. The drug call Domingon, it have 7.5mg or 15mg. If you consume regularly, the 7.5mg probably can only keep you sleep for 3 to 4 hours. Doctor said the chance of addict to this drug is unlikely.
My next door neighbour is going to start the renovation soon, Mr Wong , retired from work many years ago. The family have three members, wife and his son, who currently study in Monash University, Sunway. I am surprise to know that, study accounting course, the fee is about RM3K per month. Based on 3 years course, (9mth per year), the tuition fee is about 80K. Wong said most of the expenditure is spending on his son. The couple own consumption is minimum. He want his son to be in bed by 11:30pm. but this never happen.
I am calculating the cost of education for my kids, based on 5% inflation, I probably need to fork out at least 130K for similar course after 10 years.
